Pathankot, December 24
Terming that his government is implementing common man’s agenda in state, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday dared Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Supremo Arvind Kejriwal to perform in Delhi before promising a moon to people in Punjab.
Addressing the gathering after dedicating high level bridge from Talwara Jatta to Simbli Gujran here to the people, the Chief Minister said that AAP Chief is eyeing the wealth of Punjab due to which he is building castles in air to attract people. He dared Kejriwal that before rolling out bundles of lies before Punjabis he should have courage to announce cheap power and petrol to the residents of Delhi on line of what Punjab government has done. CM Channi said that AAP leadership should understand one simple thing that proud Punjabis will not allow any outsider to rule them.
The Chief Minister reminded Kejriwal that state government is providing cheapest Petrol and diesel in entire northern region and likewise rates of power are cheapest in the entire country.
He asked will Kejriwal implement this in Delhi before coming in Punjab and making slew of fake announcements to woo people. Listing the several pro-people initiatives taken by his government, he said that Power bill arrears worth Rs. 1500 crore have been waived, Power rates for domestic consumers have been reduced by Rs. 3 per unit, Bills to the tune of Rs. 1200 crore have been waived off in respect of motors in rural areas, water charges brought down to Rs. 50 and Rates for sand have been reduced a lot.
The Chief Minister said that this is the agenda of common man and my government is implementing zealously it toto for the benefit and welfare of the common man. He said that these endeavours will continue in future too so that all round development of state and prosperity of its people is ensured. ‘I know hardships of common man and my every step is aimed at mitigating them’ added CM Channi.
Making a scathing attack on Badals and Captain Amarinder Singh, the Chief Minister said that these elitist leaders patronised the drug mafia by sheltering its kingpin. However, CM Channi said that now he has booked Bikram Singh Majithia for his misdeeds due to which he is running pillar to post for evading arrest. He said that every person involved in drug trade will be nailed for committing sin against the state and its people.
Vowing to maintain peace and amity in the state at all costs , the Chief Minister said that forces inimical to state are hell bent on destabilising the state. However, he said that the nefarious designs of these forces will be foiled and no such effort will be allowed to succeed. CM Channi said that Punjab government is committed for maintaining hard earned peace of the state at every cost.
Thanking the people for converging in large numbers during the rally, the Chief Minister said that the due to pro-people policies of the state government the enthusiastic presence of people in these functions are swelling in numbers. However, he said that as opposition has no agenda against state government so people are not going in functions of Akalis and AAP. CM Channi said that this support of people is pointer to fact that Congress will again form government in the state.
The Chief Minister lauded MLA for starting several key projects in his area. He announced that a medical college will be set up on 32 acres land in Pathankot besides merging Hindu cooperative bank with other cooperative banks. CM Channi also announced to approve RS 120 crore for elevated road along with other slew of projects.
In her address Revenue Minister Mrs Aruna Chaudhary said that ambit of ‘Mera Ghar Mera Naam’ is being enhanced to entire state. She said that the Chief Minister has resolved several vex problems of the state. Mrs Chaudhry said that Chief Minister is doing concerted efforts for the development not the state.
Earlier MLA Pathankot Mr Anil Vij welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries on the stage.
