Sanitary Pads to be provided free of cost to women at every Anganwadi Center in Punjab; Razia Sultana
Chandigarh, December 22: Under the women-empowerment oriented ‘Udaan Scheme’, the state government would provide free sanitary pads to needy women every month at all 27,314 Anganwadi Centers across the state.
The scheme was formally launched by Social Security and Women and Child Development Minister Razia Sultana at Malerkotla recently.
Disclosing this here today, Minister Razia Sultana said that a myriad of initiatives have been taken by the government to empower the women in Punjab. Now, 9 Sanitary Pads per month will be provided free of cost to the needy females at all the Anganwadi Centers in the state.
In the first phase, about 50 females are being covered at each Anganwadi Center and sanitary pads would be given to 13.65 lakh beneficiaries each month. A total of 1.23 crore pads to be distributed under this scheme every month.
On the occasion, the minister also directed to commence uploading of Santry Pad record Proforma on the M-Seva application.
Apart from this, a women’s shop has been set up in Malerkotla district, where females can sell indigenous and homemade goods, in a bid to empower the women.
Razia Sultana said that the state government was also taking sincere efforts to increase the girl’s sex ratio in Punjab.
Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, the parents of the girls are being honored while the essential goods kits have also been provided to the newborn girls. Minister Sultana herself distributed such kits to 100 newborn girls during a special function at Malerkotla.
Director of Social Security and Women and Child Development DPS Kharbanda said that a jingle has been made by the social security department to spread awareness among the people to increase the sex ratio of girls. He said that this informative jingle would be played on various platforms across the state.

ਉਡਾਣ ਸਕੀਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਹੁਣ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ 27 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ 314 ਆਂਗਣਵਾੜੀ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਮੁਫਤ ਵਿਚ ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਪੈਡ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰਜ਼ੀਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਬੀਤੇ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਮਾਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰਜ਼ੀਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਸ਼ਕਤੀਕਰਨ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਹੁਣ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਂਗਣਵਾੜੀ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ/ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਮਹੀਨਾ 9 ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਪੈਡ ਮੁਫਤ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਇਆ ਕਰਨਗੇ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੜਾਅ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਂਗਣਵਾੜੀ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਰੀਬ 50 ਲੜਕੀਆਂ/ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ 13 ਲੱਖ 65 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ 700 ਲਾਭਪਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਪੈਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਇਆ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਹਰੇਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵੰਡੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਪੈਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਲ ਗਿਣਤੀ 1 ਕਰੋੜ 22 ਲੱਖ 91 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ 300 ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬੀਤੇ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਮੰਦ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ/ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਪੈਡ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਸਕੀਮ ਦੀ ਰਸਮੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੈਨਟਰੀ ਪੈਡ ਦਾ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫਾਰਮੇ ਨੂੰ “ਐਮ-ਸੇਵਾ” ਐਪਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ‘ਤੇ ਅੱਪਲੋਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਸ਼ਕਤੀਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਮਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਬੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।ਇਸ ਦੁਕਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਸਮਾਨ ਵੇਚ ਕੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਰਜ਼ੀਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਰਥਕ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ‘ਬੇਟੀ ਬਚਾਓ ਬੇਟੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਓ’ ਸਕੀਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਨਵਜੰਮੀਆਂ ਬੱਚੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਕਿੱਟਾਂ ਮੁਹੱਈਆਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਾਬਿਲੇਗੌਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਜ਼ੀਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਮਾਲੇਰਕੋਟਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ 100 ਨਵਜੰਮੀਆਂ ਬੱਚੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਕਿੱਟਾਂ ਵੰਡੀਆਂ।
ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਡੀ.ਪੀ.ਐਸ. ਖਰਬੰਦਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਕ ਜਿੰਗਲ ਵੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਬੇਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਿੰਗ ਅਨੁਪਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਗਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
