Capacity building camp for girls to promote as Gatka referees

Chandigarh August 23: Gatka Association Punjab (Regd.) and International Sikh Martial Arts Academy (Regd.) under the aegis of National Gatka Association of India, the oldest registered Gatka sports body in the country, is going to organize a three day Gatka seminar-cum-referees camp exclusively for girls from October 1 to October 3, 2021 at Gurdwara Baba Ke, Sector 53, Chandigarh.

                Giving this information, the President of National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) S. Harjeet Singh Grewal State Awardee said this camp was being organized to build the capacity of Gatkabaaz girls and provide equal opportunities so that females could also play the role of referees in all the upcoming tournaments. “The trainee girls would be provided technical training in the ground during morning and evening practical classes whereas new Gatka rule book to be discussed during the day time in theory classes besides special lectures to be delivered by the experts”, he added.

                He added that the participant girls in this state level camp would be selected as referees and be given smart identity cards. Apart from this, T-shirts and participation certificates would also be handed over to all the campers.

                Gatka promoter Grewal said all the camper girls would get free accommodation and food in a comfortable and safe environment. The registration fee for this Gatka camp is Rs. 100 and aspiring Gatka girls or teachers above 20 years of age must register online by September 10 on the website www.Gatkaa.com/registration-of-players through this link.

                Keeping in view of the promotion of Gatka game, betterment of Gatka sportspersons and their bright future the president of NGAI has appealed to the heads of all types of educational institutions to inform about the said Gatka seminar-cum-camp to the girls/teachers of their institution playing Gatka so as they could participate in the referee camp.
