In the wake of the bandh and dharna call given by the Joint Action Committee (JAC), the PGI Administration successfully ensured uninterrupted healthcare services across the Institute. Owing to a robust and well-coordinated contingency plan proactively put in place, patient care in all departments remained completely unaffected.
All essential services, including OPD, indoor patient care, operation theatres, emergency and trauma services, diagnostics, and maternity services, functioned normally. No clinical service was curtailed or suspended at any point.
Patient census as on January 7, 2026, reflects the Institute’s continued high-volume service delivery:
9,953 patients attended OPD
299 patients were admitted
234 surgeries were successfully performed
10 deliveries were conducted
The majority of outsourced staff reported for duty and continued to discharge their responsibilities, ensuring smooth hospital operations. A detailed present–absent report has been compiled and submitted separately.
The PGI Administration reiterates its unwavering commitment to patient welfare and round-the-clock delivery of essential healthcare services under all circumstances.
