PLANTS SAPLING AT HOLY CITY OF SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB
SAYS IT IS IMPERATIVE TO SAVE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR COMING GENERATIONS

Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha on Thursday exhorted the people of the state to plant maximum number of saplings as a befitting and humble tribute to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji on his 350th martyrdom day.
The Chief Secretary, who planted a sapling at Panj Pyara Park in the holy city, said that it was all the more important for sustainable development of the state and preserving the environment for our coming generations. He said that the depleting green cover and worsening AQI was a cause of concern for everybody as it poses a serious hazard to the environment and human health. In this scenario, Mr. KAP Sinha said that it was bounden duty of every individual to come forward and plant more and more trees to provide ‘green lungs’ to the state.
The Chief Secretary said that at a time when the state government was organizing several events to mark 350th martyrdom day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, everyone should come forward to plant more and more saplings with missionary zeal. Describing this as a social cause, he said the state government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was fully committed towards enhancing the green cover in the state. Mr. KAP Sinha said that it was the need of the hour to protect our environment by planting more trees, so the state government has been rendering this service to the people since long but this task cannot be accomplished without public support.
Soliciting fulsome support of people in this noble cause, Chief Secretary called upon them to plant and upkeep atleast sapling for the sake of their coming generations. He also impressed upon the social organizations and the NGOs to come forward and as crusaders to increase the green cover in the state as a perfect tribute to great Guru sahiban. Mr. KAP Sinha said that it is imperative to make the state clean, green and pollution free thereby checking the environmental pollution in it.
On the occasion Secretary Tourism Dr. Abhinav Trikha, Secretary Information and Public Relations Mr. Ramvir, Additional Director Information and Public Relations Mr. Sandeep Garha and others were also present.
