Mann Government's Marvel! Historic Record of 150 Lakh Metric Tons of Paddy Procurement!Direct Benefit to 11 Lakh Farmers
Chandigarh, November 15, : This season has brought a victory of hope, hard work, and trust for the hardworking farmers of Punjab. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has created a new history this year by completing the procurement of over 150 lakh metric tons of paddy. This unprecedented achievement comes at a time when floods in several parts of the state had damaged crops, but the government’s strong policy and the farmers’ unwavering spirit overcame all challenges.
Government data shows that by the evening of November 10, a total of 1,51,80,075.88 metric tons of paddy had arrived in the state’s mandis, and agencies procured 1,50,35,129.93 metric tons—about 99 percent of the total arrival. This demonstrates the success of the foolproof and robust infrastructure developed by the government.
Paddy : Patiala Tops as Punjab Speeds Up MSP Payments and Lifting
The state government has developed modern infrastructure to make the procurement process in the mandis completely transparent, fast, and convenient. Lal Chand Kataruchak, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, is personally monitoring the situation at the ground level to ensure that farmers face no difficulties.
Over 11 lakh farmers have already received the benefit of the Minimum Support Price (MSP). This is the result of this efficient system. Patiala district leads the state, as the government has paid the maximum number of farmers there under the MSP. Agencies have already lifted about 90 percent (over 135 lakh metric tons) of the procured paddy from the mandis This has effectively prevented congestion in the markets.
The biggest achievement is that the farmers received their payments within the stipulated time limit. The government has so far deposited more than ₹34,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of the farmers. Payment was ensured within 48 hours of procurement in most mandis. This process ensured no delay for farmers in preparing for their next agricultural season.
CM Mann Hails Record Procurement, Strong Governance, and Farmer Trust
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, “This achievement is the result of the combined hard work of Punjab’s diligent farmers. Government officials and employees also contributed significantly. Our government’s goal is not just to procure paddy, but to give every farmer respect, stability, and self-reliance.”
This step by the government reflects the success of the “Farmer-First Policy.” Advance planning has strengthened Punjab’s procurement system. The deployment of sufficient staff and real-time monitoring of mandis have also contributed. Together, these efforts have made it an example for the entire country.
This is not just a record-breaking paddy procurement, but a splendid example of farmers’ trust, government transparency, and good governance. The Punjab government has once again proven their intention is clear. The system is strong. No obstacle can stop the state’s progress.
