Chandigarh January 16 2025. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) continues its campaign. They are fighting against corruption in the state. They have arrested deed writer Deputy Singh. He was working in tehsil complex Faridkot. He was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5000 in the name of Tehsildar. Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above mentioned accused has been arrested. The arrest was based on a complaint lodged by Parmjit Singh. Accused is a resident of village Tehna, in Faridkot district.

He gave further details. He added that the complainant approached the VB. The complainant informed that he had purchased land in village Tehna in the name of his mother. For registering this land, he met the above-mentioned deed writer. This writer was responsible for the document writing required for the registration process. The deed writer demanded Rs 20000 to pay the money to the officers/officials of the tehsil for this purpose.

After submitting the documents in the office of Tehsildar Faridkot, the accused asked the complainant to pay the bribe money. He instructed the complainant to use Google Pay for this transaction. The complainant paid Rs 15000. The accused has been demanding the remaining amount of Rs 5000. The complainant recorded the conversation with the said deed writer on his phone regarding giving bribe. The VB received this recording as evidence.

The police apprehended the accused red-handed.

The spokesperson said that after a preliminary enquiry of this complaint, the team of VB laid a trap. During the operation, authorities apprehended the accused, Deputy Singh, red-handed. He was accepting the second instalment of bribe of Rs. 5000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

The accused will be produced in the competent court tomorrow.

In this regard, officials registered a case against the said accused. The Vigilance Bureau (VB) police station in the Ferozepur range has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The authorities will produce the accused in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation of this case was under progress.
