Modi govt should allow farmers to hold protest at a spot of their choice: AAP to PM

..Govt should resolve farmers’ issues ahead of the meeting slated for Dec 3,

…Due to PM’s stubbornness farmers were stuck on Delhi roads amid biting cold conditions

Chandigarh, November 28:

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Saturday came upon the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its brazen attempt to crush the farmers’ ongoing stir against the new farm laws, by resorting to repressive measures. Taking a serious note of the repressive measures being resorted to by the government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded it should take an urgent call on the farmers’ genuine and allow them to demonstrate at the spot of their choice.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters in Chandigarh on Saturday, state president and Sangrur Lok Sabha member Bhagwant Mann said “In a democratic system of governance, every law abiding citizen of the country enjoys  a legitimate right to register his protest through peaceful means. It is a matter of grave concern that the Modi government has adopted oppressive means to deprive the farmers of their legitimate right to protest at a place of their choice. The move clearly indicates that the government was in hurry to resolve the issues and concerns of the farmers, adding that it was a blatant violation of the rights of the people enshrined in the Indian Constitution”.

Bhagwant Mann said that the Modi government at the centre should go into a huddle and thrash out an amicable solution to the farmers’ issues, adding it should resolve them ahead of the scheduled meeting on December 3, keeping in view of the seriousness of the issues. He lamented that the Modi government should offer a helping hand to the country’s ‘annaadaata’, who was bearing the brunt of the stubborn stance of the Modi government, bearing the brunt of the freezing winter nights on Delhi roads.

Mann said the Kejriwal-led government in Delhi would extend all possible help to the farmers currently stuck in the capital city demanding repeal of the three contentious farm laws. He added that the Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers were involved in the peasant movement without any political interest. He said that our party leaders and workers are farmers themselves and they understand the pain of farmers.
