CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 13: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore, today extended greetings to the people on the sacred occasion of Maha Shivratri, the festival dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Extending his greetings to the people on this auspicious day, the Governor said the day marks a remembrance of ‘overcoming darkness and ignorance’ in life. Maha Shivratri is considered as one of the holiest festivals of Hinduism. The day reminds us of our pursuit of truth and understanding and symbolizes salvation, devotion, dedication and fulfillment in human life.

The Governor appealed to the people to celebrate this festival collectively, rising above the considerations of caste, creed and religion. This festival depicts our composite culture of peaceful co-existence and also reminds us to adopt the right and positive attitude in our day-to-day lives. Such occasions strengthen the bonds of amity, love and secular temperament amongst all sections of life, added Shri Badnore.
