Professor Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER Chandigarh inaugurated an ultrafiltration and hemodialysis machine donated by Sh. S P Singh Oberoi, Chairperson of Sarbat Da Bhala , NGO to the Department of Cardiology, Advanced Cardiac Centre in the presence Prof Yash Paul Sharma, Prof & Head, Department of Cardiology, Prof Surjit Singh, Prof & Head, Department of Pediatrics and Financial Advisor,  Kumar Abhay.

One more machine was donated to the Department of Paediatrics. This dialysis machines has the capability of performing continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) / dialysis in adult and pediatric patients. Also this machine can perform membrane plasma separation, membrane perfusion and slow continuous ultrafiltration. This machine will be very useful in doing dialysis of very sick patients with low blood pressure and decreased urine output. It will be useful in management of patients with heart failure. Already we have a hemodialysis machine in CCU and this concept of having dialysis machine in CCU which prevents many deaths during transportation of patients to the dialysis room was envisioned by Prof Yash Paul Sharma. It will go a long way in decreasing mortality and morbidity of patients with renal failure. It will further help us in reducing the mortality in acute coronary syndrome and heart failure patients. Department of cardiology has already achieved the least mortality in acute coronary syndrome with mechanical complication and heart failure and our management protocol is being followed by centres from all over the globe.
