VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS  CIVIL HOSPITAL BATHINDA EMPLOYEE ON CHARGES OF CORRUPTION

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has been receiving online complaints against corruption and bribery on the anti-corruption helpline launched by the Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann to eradicate corruption from the state. As a result, on the basis of complaints received by the state Vigilance Bureau, the VB on Tuesday arrested Varinder Singh, a Class IV employee posted in Civil Hospital Bathinda. Many complainants had accused him of extorting money by duping in the name of getting jobs.

            Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of Punjab Vigilance Bureau said the complainant Nirgun Sargun Gyata Singh, a resident of village Bahadurgarh Jandian in Bathinda district has lodged a complaint against the above mentioned accused Varinder Singh on this helpline. The VB after thorough investigation of the allegations has arrested the accused Varinder Singh and registering a case in this regard.

            The spokesperson further revealed that accused Varinder Singh had taken Rs 1.5 lakh (total Rs 3 lakh) in two installments from the complainant Nirgun Sargun Gyata Singh. Apart from this, Gurmail Singh s/o Mithu Singh, Mehrjit Singh s/o Avtar Singh, Manpreet Singh s/o Kulwant Singh, Tara Singh s/o Balveer Singh, Jagdeep Singh s/o Babu Singh etc. were cheated in the name of getting jobs and Rs 2.5 lakh each received by the accused through Resident Gurlal Singh s/o Tara Singh, a resident of village Bahadurgarh Jandiyan.

            He said that a case under Section 420 of IPC and Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered under case number 3 dated 11-07-2022 in Police Station Vigilance Bureau Bathinda Range Bathinda and further investigation is under progress.
