On CM’s directive more than 26K people evacuated to safe places :    168 relief camps active in the flood-affected areas

–        1422 villages in 18 districts affected by the flood

–        35 people lost their lives, 15 injured

Chandigarh, July 17:

          To speed up the relief operations in the state and as per the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann, 26250 persons have been evacuated and taken to safe places, out of this number, 14296 in Patiala, 2200 in Rupnagar, 250 in Moga, 300 in Ludhiana, 1400 in Mohali, 200 in SBS Nagar, 600 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 241 in Tarn Taran,  670 in Jalandhar, 380 in Kapurthala, 5400 in Ferozpur, 263 in Sangrur, 17 in Fazilka and 33 persons have been evacuated from flood-affected areas in Mansa district.

          A spokesperson informed that 1422 villages have been affected by the flood till 8 am on July 17. A total of 168 relief camps have been established in the state, out of which 16 camps are running in Patiala, 16 in Rupnagar and 7 in Moga. Similarly, 3 relief camps in Ludhiana, 1 in Mohali, 2 in SBS Nagar, 27 in Sangrur, 18 in Ferozepur, 3 in Hoshiarpur, 7 in Tarn Taran, 38 in Jalandhar, 8 in Kapurthala, 2 in Fazilka and 20 camps have been established in Mansa.

          Currently, 18 districts are affected by floods including Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Kapurthala, Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, SBS Nagar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Mansa and Pathankot.

          According to the report received by the revenue department from different districts, a total of 35 people have lost their lives due to floods in the state and 15 injured while 3 are still missing.

          As per the information received from the animal husbandry department, a total of 1728 animals treated and 4283 animals Vaccinated in the state. Rescue teams of the Department are working round the clock to provide treatment, supply feed, fodder and silage to the needy animals.

          On the other hand, the teams of the health department are working in the flood-affected areas with full attention. According to the spokesperson, 437 Rapid Response Teams (RRT) have been working at flood affected areas. The health department has set up 243 medical camps in the affected areas and the total number of OPDs is 7551.

          He further informed that dry food packets are being continuously distributed in the flood affected areas. 21,420 dry food packets have been distributed in Rupnagar, 64000 in Patiala and 3800 in SAS Nagar.
