Vigilance Bureau arrests Patwari for taking Rs 3,000 bribe

 Chandigarh March 20 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, on Tuesday nabbed a revenue Patwari Vinod Kumar, posted at revenue halqua Giddranwali, Fazilka district red handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000.

  Today, a spokesperson of the VB revealed that they have registered a case against the aforementioned revenue official based on a complaint filed by Amrik Singh, a resident of Ghallu village in Fazilka district.

          Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari has demanded Rs 8,000 as a bribe in lieu of providing copies of Fard of his ancestral land. The complainant further alleged that the said Patwari has already taken Rs 1,000 and demanding the second instalment of bribe of Rs 3,000.

The spokesperson further stated that following a preliminary investigation of this complaint, a VB team laid a trap in which they arrested the accused Patwari red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

    In this regard, the authorities have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the mentioned revenue official at VB police station in Ferozepur range. They will produce him in the competent court tomorrow. He informed that further investigation in this case is underway.
