Himachal Pradesh

As the government is bidding farewell to the promised plans, the same way public is also preparing to bid farewell to the government in 2024.

11/9/23 Shimla:

Vivek Sharma, the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, while criticizing the government, said that a large number of industrial units in the state are shutting down. The way the current Congress government is taking steps, it seems like they are giving a farewell to industries as the government has recently increased electricity rates from 10% to 25%.

According to the notification issued on 4/9/23, industries using High Tension lines will now have to pay a duty of 11% to 19%, while extra high-tension wires will have a duty increased from 13% to 19%.

The government is making a crisis out of a self-made disaster by burdening domestic consumers with an increase of 3% and 3% to 5% on electronic devices used in agriculture? Additionally, duties on cement and crusher industries have been increased from 17% to 25%, which invites inflation during this crisis.

Moreover, diesel generators with an average price range of 5 to 20 lakhs, which are used in emergency situations when there is no electricity, will now have to pay a running cost of 0.45 rupees per unit despite paying 6.50 rupees higher per liter for the diesel used to run them as compared to our neighboring states.

Is this move really justified for the private organizations and industries already struggling with economic downturns?, he asked.

Why does the government want to harass these small and medium-sized industries in Himachal Pradesh, where a significant portion of the workforce is engaged, including MSMEs (medium and small manufacturing industry)? Vivek Sharma questioned, referring to the recent budget speech.

While referring to the previous budget speech made seven months ago, where the government had promised to make the state a green state, the government planned to install solar units ranging from 250 kW to 2 MW in every district. They also promised a 40% subsidy in the private sector. He asked the government to disclose how many people have received subsidies and how many solar units have been approved.

The government is not only making empty promises on a false guarantee during the budget season.

The way the Sukh government is bidding farewell to every development plan, the public is also preparing for the same farewell in 2024.
