Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally welcomed Mohammad Owais into the AAP family, expressing his enthusiasm for the strengthened party presence in Malerkotla and Sangrur. He emphasized the growing influx of individuals from diverse communities and regions across Punjab into the AAP. These new members, inspired by the pro-people and pro-Punjab policies of the government, are eager to contribute towards rejuvenating the vibrant spirit of Punjab.

Owais, the proprietor of Star Impact Malerkotla, a prominent sport shoe manufacturer and leather exporter, is also the driving force behind the Al Kauser Football Academy. This academy has been instrumental in nurturing numerous state-level and professional football players, significantly contributing to Malerkotla’s sports landscape. Notably, Owais contested the Punjab legislative assembly elections in 2017 from the Malerkotla seat as a candidate for Akali Dal.
