- Asks all Tehsildars / Naib-Tehsildars to prepare a tour programme every month and get it approved from SDMs
Chandigarh, October 12
People’s convenience and transparency is high on the agenda of Revenue Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria. This is amply demonstrated in his latest directive to revenue officials to go out into the field and resolve the difficulties faced by the people.
This order comes in the wake of reports about certain officers preferring to do their work sitting in their offices.
Taking this matter seriously, Sarkaria has told the officers to refrain from doing their field work while sitting in the offices. “Any such negligence shall not be tolerated,” he warned.
He has directed that all Tehsildars / Naib-Tehsildars should prepare a tour programme for the next month in the last week of the preceding month and get an approval from the SDM. Copies of the tour programme should also be sent to field Kanungos so that they can inform the Patwaris concerned about the tour programme. If any revenue officer violates these instructions, appropriate disciplinary action would be initiated against him/her by the SDM concerned.
The Revenue Minister said that he would hold meetings with the revenue officers at the Divisional level very soon, in which he would also review the field tours besides other works of the revenue officers.
The Additional Chief Secretary-cum-FCR MP Singh said the revenue officials must do field duties scrupulously. They have to go to the field for sanctioning of mutations, final verification of new Jamabandi, initial hearing of partition cases, Girdawari inspection, contestant Mutation and even Lambardari/Chaukidari cases. He said if any negligence was found in the field works then appropriate action would be taken against that officer.
