CM Presents Rs 1 Crore Cheque to Agniveer Jawan’s Family

Ramgarh Sardaran (Ludhiana), January 25: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over a cheque worth Rs 1 crore of financial assistance to the family of Agniveer Jawan Ajay Kumar who had attained martyrdom during the line of duty.

 

The Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the family of the martyr, highlighting that Agniveer Jawan Ajay Kumar, hailing from village Ramgarh Sardaran near Khanna, had attained martyrdom in a landmine blast while serving duty in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the irreparable loss suffered by both the nation and the distressed family due to the brave Agniveer jawan’s sacrifice.

Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the financial assistance, offered to the family, symbolizes respect for the hero’s supreme sacrifice for the country. He emphasized the nation’s indebtedness to such martyrs, acknowledging their immense contribution to preserving the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the country.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the families of soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the motherland. He underscored the government’s duty to ensure the well-being of soldiers and their families, offering condolences and prayers for the departed soul.

Bhagwant Singh Mann announced initiatives in memory of the martyr, including the naming of a Government school, construction of a playground/stadium, establishment of an Aam Aadmi Clinic, and the provision of a government job to one family member of the martyr. He strongly opposed the Agniveer scheme, denouncing it as an insult to the brave soldiers and advocating for its immediate rollback in the country’s best interest.

The Chief Minister lamented the lack of sympathy from those in power at the center, contrasting it with Punjab’s history of valuing and honoring its martyrs, both during the freedom struggle and in present times.
