VB NABS BILL CLERK WHILE ACCEPTING ₹5K BRIBE FOR CLEARING LTC HOLIDAY BILL

          Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday nabbed a Bill Clerk, Hardyal Singh posted at Punjab Roadways Office Amritsar-2, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from Driver Sahib Singh.

          Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that Sahib Singh resident of village Harike in Tarn Taran district lodged a complaint that he is working as a driver at Punjab Roadways Amritsar-2 and he had availed LTC holiday from 12-06-2023 to 23-06-2023 with due permission from the department. He alleged that the accused bill clerk demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to send the bill of LTC holiday to the treasury and after his repeated requests he agreed to send the bill if he (complainant) pays him bribe of Rs 5000 for the same.

          After preliminary investigation of the complaint, the spokesperson said that a team of VB laid a trap and arrested Bill Clerk Hardyal Singh while accepting the bribe money of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses.

          In this regard, an FIR no. 31 dated 06-09-2023 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the Bill Clerk Hardyal Singh at Police Station VB, Amritsar Range.
