Says callous and discriminatory attitude of BJP leaders intolerable

Chandigarh, February 21: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday condemned the BJP leaders for questioning the patriotism of Sikh Police officer in West Bengal.

In a statement issued today, the Chief Minister expressed regret that the leaders of the saffron party are questioning the credentials of a community known for its patriotism and nationalism. He highlighted that the Punjabis, including the Sikh community, have made countless sacrifices for the country’s freedom.

Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized the significant contribution of farmers to the country’s self-reliance in food production. He also noted that the valiant sons of Punjab are making supreme sacrifices to safeguard the borders.

However, Mann lamented that BJP leaders are branding a Sikh officer, who performs his duties meticulously, as anti-national. He called it a grave insult to Punjabis and the Sikh community in particular.

The Chief Minister stated that the great Sikh Gurus have taught us to fight against tyranny, injustice, and oppression, adding that this humiliation will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that the BJP leadership should tender apologies for the irresponsible, callous and discriminatory attitude of their leaders. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the entire Punjab is solidly with the valiant Sikh officer who had left no stone unturned to perform his duty well.
