Punjab wins the ‘best state’ and Sangrur the ‘best district’ awards

Chandigarh, January 31 : updatepunjab news : Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, Sangrur clinched the prestigious title of the best district in the nation under the Green Schools Programme (GSP).Punjab secured the ‘best state’ accolade alongside Sangrur’s recognition at the Centre for Science and Environment’s (CSE) annual Green Schools Awards.

Punjab earned the ‘best state’ honor

The GSP initiative aims to foster environmental awareness among students and create eco-friendly school campuses. Punjab earned the ‘best state’ honor for its exceptional audit registrations and report submissions, with 4,734 schools participating and 70 achieving ‘green’ ratings. Sangrur’s remarkable 503 submissions led to its best district recognition

The awards encourage schools

The awards encourage schools to conduct comprehensive environmental audits and enhance resource management practices. Notably, Satya Bharti School Lakhowal, Ludhiana, Punjab, was among the Changemaker Award winners for elevating its sustainability rating. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed pride in Punjab’s achievement and applauded the efforts of students and teachers.

Government’s commitment to providing high-quality education

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hailed the milestone, emphasising the government’s commitment to providing high-quality education and instilling environmental consciousness among Punjab’s youth.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, through his X account, congratulated Punjabis, especially students and teachers.
