Former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today while thanking the almighty and lakhs of Punjabis who prayed for his well being besides the judicial system and politicians across political lines including Congress ministers who believed he had been wronged, said “it is now crystal clear that I was targeted as part of a vendetta exercise by the Congress government and its top leadership”.

 Bikram Majithia was addressing the media with regard to the grant of interim bail and stay on his arrest by the Punjab and Haryana high court yesterday.The senior Akali leader said the complete politicization of the police force had even witnessed the same DGP – Chattopadhyay giving the clearance to compromise the safety of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Ferozepur. He said this was a well planned conspiracy which was hatched at the chief minister’s residence with the CM himself and the home minister being the prime conspirators. “The DGP, who was given the top post in the State for a twenty day period despite not being eligible for the same, has immensely damaged Punjab by his irresponsible acts”. Mr Majithia also castigated the chief minister for trying to downplay the issue of security breach and even refusing to own responsibility for the same, saying “earlier also we have witnessed how the persons who had come to garland former PM Rajiv Gandhi assassinated him”.

Majithia also made it clear that he has always submitted to the honorable courts and the judicial process and would continue to do so. “I am a firm believer in the majesty of the law and have maintained this position since the last nine years when these false allegations were first made against me. Truth always wins and I am confident justice will be done in this case also”.
