Identifying 784 Accident-Prone Black Spots

Chandigarh, February 14: Punjab Transport Ministe Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Wednesday, apprised that Punjab is first state in the country to identify all 784 Accidental-Prone Black Spots and rectified over 60 percent of them with latest engineering techniques.

Government Initiatives for Road Safety 

During the ‘Road Safety Month’ concluding ceremony at MAGSIPA, Minister Bhullar highlighted government efforts, including the establishment of a dedicated Sadak Suraksha Force and the installation of CCTV cameras at junctions.

Road Safety Month Activities

Director General Lead Agency Mr. R. Venkat Ratnam outlined various activities organised statewide, such as rallies, affixing retro-reflective tapes on vehicles, and conducting awareness campaigns against red light violations and drunk driving.

Workshop on Accident Black Spots

A comprehensive workshop aimed at identifying and rectifying accident black spots was conducted, bringing together representatives from key road-owning departments such as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) (PWD (B&R)), and the Local Government. During the workshop, these departments provided detailed presentations outlining their respective initiatives and strategies to address the identified Accident-Prone Black Spots  effectively.

Sponsorship of First-Aid Kits

Kamal Garg, IAS, MD MILKFED sponsored the distribution of 400 First-Aid kits to drivers, emphasizing the importance of preparedness for road emergencies.
