Punjab Govt decided that no registry in any unauthorized colony shall be allowed till further orders.

The department of Housing & Urban Development, Punjab has formulated a draft policy for regularizing unauthorized colonies in the State of Punjab.  The Policy was discussed in the Cabinet meeting held on 27.12.2017.  After discussion, a Group of ministers under the Chairmanship of Minister for Health & Family Welfare . Braham Mohindra was constituted to deliberate on the policy at length.  First meeting of the Group was held here today (12.01.2018) at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by all the members viz.  Ministers Navjot Singh Sidhu, Manpreet Singh Badal,  Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and  Charanjit Singh Channi.

In the meeting the policy was discussed at length. The members deliberated upon various issues such as the execution of the policy, way forward and better regulation of colonies for future. After detailed discussion it was decided that general public should be made aware that the Governemnt is  deliberating the issue of unauthorized colonies in the State and suggestions/ observations should be invited from the citizens by publication of public notices in press. These suggestions may be given on e-mail addresses: ctpue.punjab@gmail.com and tpw.lg.pb@gmail.com by 31.01.2018.

Further, it was also decided that an inventory of  unauthorized colonies shall be prepared within three weeks, to get an estimation about the quantum of un-authorized colonies developed in the state.  The committee was of the view that no unauthorized colony in the  state shall be allowed to come up henceforth and stringent measures be adopted by the concerned departments to ensure this. It was also decided that no registry in any unauthorized colony shall be allowed till further orders.

The Group decided to hold its next meeting on 08.02.2018.
