CHIEF MINISTER BHAGWANT MANN RELEASES RS. 10 CRORE FOR REPAIR OF FLOOD-AFFECTED WATER SUPPLY SCHEMES: JIMPA

Chandigarh, July 15:

          Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has released funds worth Rs. 10 crore for the repair of drinking water supply schemes affected by floods. He said that the Punjab government is already ensuring the supply of clean water to the flood victims through alternative arrangements, but the pipes, motors or tubewells which got damaged by floods, will be repaired with this amount. The amount has been given from the SDR fund.

          Jimpa said that currently a large part of the state is under floods and facing clean drinking water problem but under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, we are providing potable water to every village of the state. Jimpa thanked the Chief Minister for releasing this amount.

          Before this, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa had held a meeting with the officials and field staff of the department and directed that there should be no shortage of clean drinking water in the flood-affected rural areas. He had apprised the instructions issued by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that the supply of clean drinking water should be ensured to the flood-affected areas and sufficient quantity of water tankers should be sent to the areas where water cannot reach through pipes.

          Jimpa had directed that those water supply schemes in Punjab affected by floods should supply water to their beneficiaries through alternative methods till they are fully operational.
