Speaker lashes out Union Government for 12 percent tax levying on Shoemaking

Demands immediately withdraw this arbitrary decision and monetary support for the shoemakers

Chandigarh, December 3:

          Terming tax increase on Shoemaking (Punjabi Jutti) industry as arbitrary decision, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday slammed the Union Government and said that this decision should be immediately withdrawn.

          Demanding prompt monetary support for the shoemakers, making shoes with their hands since ages, the Speaker said that these shoemakers trying to make alive this ages old tradition but the Union Government wanted to ruined this traditional industry with this arbitrary decision. He said that need of the hour is to support these traditional occupations so that these shoemakers earned their livelihoods.

          The Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that the Punjab Government is making stupendous efforts to ensure well being of the every section with its pro-people and industrial friendly policies but on the contrary the Union Government is trying to ruin all types of unorganised sectors for paving the way for big industrial giants.
