Patiala :District Administration suspends 274

arms licences with notice to show cause

 

-Starts process to suspend Arms licenses of all those who have been bound down under Section 107/110 of the CRPC

-DM office shares a list of around 30,000 arms licenses with the police for verification

Patiala, 19 November:

Deputy Commissioner Patiala Sakshi Sawhney disclosed that after receiving instructions from the government of Punjab

to review all arms licenses within 3 months, the action was initiated by the office of the district magistrate and suspended 274 arms licenses.

Divulging the details Deputy Commissioner said that in the district 274 arms licences were suspended with notice to show cause why they should not be cancelled as they had more than 2 weapons per license despite giving repeated opportunities. They have been asked to deposit the same with immediate effect, she added.

Deputy Commissioner further informed that arms licenses of all those who have been bound down under Section 107/110 of the CRPC are also being suspended for the period of the bond as per section 9 of the Arms Act.

Deputy Commissioner said that the district magistrate office has also shared a list of around 30,000 arms licenses with the police department for verification of any criminal misconduct or behaviour which does not justify the need for an arms license.
