EXPLORE FEASIBILITIES TO LINK DATA OF DIFFERENT DEPTS ON COMMON PLATFORM, AMAN ARORA DIRECTS DGR

  • Move aimed at unifying database to bring more transparency & efficiency in services delivery

Chandigarh, September 2:

In order to bring more transparency and efficiency in the services delivery system as per the commitment of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government, the Governance Reforms and Public Grievances Minister Mr. Aman Arora directed the department officials to explore the feasibilities to unify the data related to beneficiaries of various schemes by linking it with “Aadhar”. This extensive process will also integrate the entire data on a common platform, which will help to weed out bogus beneficiaries.

Chairing a meeting here at MGSIPA, Mr. Aman Arora asked the Department of Governance Reforms (DGR) officials to select some departments to study the possibility of the proposed project, under which the data of the selected departments would be clubbed and be made available on a common platform so that any department could access it as and when required. The concerned beneficiary won’t have to furnish those documents again and this will also cut down the paperwork, he added.

Mr. Aman Arora further said that the main objective of the proposed project is to facilitate retrieval of data specific to a person that was already recorded in the system as, at present, there is no system using which data can be retrieved from different departments. For instance, whenever any citizen has to apply for a new service or programme, he or she is asked to furnish all the data time and again, he said while adding that this is not only cumbersome but a waste of a time.

Meanwhile, the Principal Secretary Governance Reforms and Public Grievances Mr. Tejveer Singh asked the officials concerned to initiate the process in this regard so that a pilot project to bring data of some key departments could be initiated at the earliest.

Special Chief Secretary Social Security, Women and Child Development Ms. Raji P. Shrivastava, Director Governance Reforms Mr. Girish Dayalan, AMD Pungrain Mr. Anand Sagar Sharma and other senior officials of the government were also present in the meeting.
