Food Inspector Arrested for Wheat Misappropriation

 Chandigarh March 20 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Inspector Sushil Kumar, Food and Civil Supplies Department Punjab, posted at Pathankot for misappropriation of Wheat stock allotted by the Government under various welfare schemes.

  Today, an official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed that, during an inquiry, they uncovered that the accused mentioned above had misappropriated wheat stock totaling more than 2079 Quintals, resulting in a financial loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer.

He further stated that the VB police station in the Amritsar range has arrested the said accused and registered FIR No. 14 under sections 13(1), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and under section 409 of IPC against him. “He added that they will present the accused in the competent court tomorrow, and ongoing investigations are underway.”
