A meeting of the State Level Advisory Committee (PC-PNDT Act) was held under the chairmanship of Dr. OP Gojra, Director Health Services (Family Welfare) at Directorate of Health, Punjab here today. Dr. O.P. Gojra said that the PC-PNDT (Preconception & Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques) Act 1994 should be effectively implemented in the entire State of Punjab. To make the Act more effective, regular inspections of ultrasound centers in all the districts by the Civil Surgeons should be intensified to prevent female foeticide and improve the sex-ratio. If anyone is found violating the provisions of the Act, strict action will be taken. The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (PNDT) Dr. Nisha Shahi, Assistant Director (PNDT) Dr. Vaneet Nagpal, Pediatrician Dr. Dharmapal, Gynecologist Dr. Meena Hardeep, Radiologist Riteish Mahajan, Committee Member Gurmukh Singh (Retired Principal), Committee Member Amit Marwaha, Committee Member Surjit Kaur, Mass Media Officer Gurmeet Singh Rana and other officials.
