ANIMAL HUSBANDRY DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHES 90% TARGET OF MEGA VACCINATION DRIVE AGAINST LSD: LALJIT SINGH BHULLAR

OVER 22, 58,300 CATTLE ALREADY VACCINATED

VACCINATION DRIVE WILL BE COMPLETED BEFORE FIXED DEADLINE OF APRIL 30

Chandigarh, April 1:

          Punjab Animal Husbandry Department has come close to complete the mega vaccination campaign against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) almost a month ahead of schedule. The department has accomplished a 90 per cent target to vaccinate 25 lakh cattle in the state.

          Disclosing this, Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the department has closed to the heels to complete the LSD vaccination drive before the fixed deadline of April 30, 2023. The vaccination drive for early protection of cattle from LSD was initiated on a war footing on February 15, 2023 with 773 dedicated veterinary teams of Animal Husbandry Department.

          “We have completed 90 percent of vaccination till date, with more than 22,58,300 cattle already vaccinated”, said the Cabinet Minister while adding that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann led state government has set a target of vaccinating all 25 lakh cattle in the state under this mega vaccination campaign.

          Appreciating the vaccination teams for tireless efforts, S. Bhullar said that recruitment of new Veterinary Officers and Veterinary Inspectors will enable the department to complete the vaccination drive before the fixed time period of April 30.

          Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry Mr. Vikas Pratap said, a daily target of 40,000 doses of vaccine was fixed and has been achieved successfully. So far, nine districts namely Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Patiala, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and Sangrur have completed 100 per cent vaccination, four districts have crossed 90 per cent vaccination target till date, while others districts are hovering around 80 per cent, he added.

          All the remaining districts will complete the vaccination within April 2023, said Mr. Vikas Pratap while expressing satisfaction over the ongoing vaccination drive.
