Jakhar rubs salt on wounds of Sikhs by opposing protest dharna of 3rd November at New Delhi: Dr. Cheema
Says Jakhar was trying to appease Rahul Gandhi to save his chair
Chandigarh November 2 : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today lambasted the Congress state president Sunil Jakhar for rubbing salt on wounds of the Sikh community by opposing the protest dharna of Sikh Sangat being held on November 3 against the massacre of Sikhs orchestrated by the Congress party and its goons in New Delhi and other parts of the country in 1984. The party dubbed it as the Congress party’s nervousness after sensing the rising anger amongst the Sikhs against its bloodstained history.
In a statement, the party’s Senior Vice President and spokesperson, Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema said that the protest dharna was being held to seek justice for victims of the Sikh genocide as well as punishment for the perpetrators of this gory act. “By opposing this protest dharna, Sunil Jakhar has tried to gratify Rahul Gandhi. Why the Congress party is so upset? Is seeking justice for thousands of innocent Sikhs butchered by an unruly mob apparently instigated by Congress higher ups is a crime” he added.
Terming the act of Sunil Jakhar ‘a political gimmick’ to show loyalty to Rahul Gandhi, the SAD leader said that Pradesh president was trying to prove that even after 34 years of 1984 Sikh massacre, the Congress party still stood rock solid behind the culprits. Dr. Cheema claimed that the protest dharna will open up the eyes of the Congress party to this proven reality that the oppressors cannot muzzle the voice of truth.
Dr. Cheema appealed to all party leaders and workers to reach at Gurudwara Shri Rakabganj Sahib, New Delhi on November 3 to give a befitting reply to Sunil Jakhar for his heinous act.
