In his condemnation of police violence against farmers, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan emphasized that it constituted a sheer violation of democratic rights. He emphasized the importance of meeting the genuine demands of farmers and urged for initiating talks with an open mind.

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan condemned the barricading and fortifying of the National Capital, describing it as a significant blow to democracy, wherein the authorities snatch the democratic rights of the people with a heavy hand.”It is regrettable that the Union government allowed the situation to deteriorate to such an extent and took no action on the promises made with farmers,” he lamented, highlighting the grave concerns regarding the erosion of democratic principles and the failure of the government to uphold its commitments to the farming community.
