Sufi Festival ” depicts the rich heritage of Malerkotla

Photo exhibition is the center of attraction for the audience during the Sufi Festival

During the ongoing four-day Sufi festival in the princely city of Malerkotla, various presentations related to Sufi faith and music captivate the audience. A photo exhibition, curated by renowned photographer Ravindra Ravi, is a highlight, showcasing the rich heritage of Malerkotla.

The youth attending the Sufi corner suggests that such events can effectively preserve a connection with the rich heritage for future generations. The exhibition includes pictures of prominent Sufi Saints, Qawwals, and writers, depicting the main works of the people of Malerkotla, such as ironware making, jutti making, vegetable production, and army uniform badge crafting.

The old historical buildings, seven gates, and other famous sights of the city are seen with great enthusiasm by the people. Literature related to Sufism in the exhibition also attracts readers.

Speaking about the exhibition, Ravinder Ravi mentioned that photography was his hobby, and he finds every bit of nature beautiful, capturing natural scenes, culture, and old buildings with his camera. These pictures of Malerkotla were taken in 2018, and Ravi expressed gratitude to the district administration of Malerkotla and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Pallavi for allowing him to exhibit.

Student Salma, sharing her thoughts about the exhibition, mentioned that it was a commendable initiative by the administration to set up the “Sufi Corner.” The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Punjab Urdu Akademi Malerkotla, provides an opportunity to learn about Sufism. People welcomed the Punjab Government’s step to hold this event in Malerkotla.
