CM EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH THE FARMERS : “State Government Stands Firmly with Farmers Amid Crisis”

OPPOSES SUSPENSION OF INTERNET SERVICES IN FEW DISTRICTS OF STATE

Chandigarh, February 15 The Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, expressed solidarity with the state’s farmers on Thursday. He affirmed the state government unwavering support for the country’s food growers during this crisis. In a meeting with farmers and Union Ministers, including Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai, Mann deemed recent incidents regrettable and preventable.

He condemned the use of drones against protesting farmers as intolerable and highlighted the state government’s opposition to such actions. Mann directed the Deputy Commissioner of Patiala to address this issue with the Deputy Commissioner of Ambala.

Adverse Impact of Internet Suspension

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the suspension of internet services in three districts, impacting students’ studies, especially during exams.

Support for Farmers’ Demands

Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed full support for the farmers’ demands, condemning the placement of barbed fences on the state’s borders with Haryana.

Opposition to Unfair Treatment of Farmer

Mann criticized the unfair treatment of farmers and rejected the opposition’s portrayal of AAP as the ‘B’ team of BJP, asserting their commitment to farmers’ interests.

Advocacy for Farmers and Injury Compensation

He emphasized State Government role as advocates for farmers’ interests, overseeing the situation closely and ensuring free treatment for the 54 seriously injured farmers.

Concerns Over Crop Diversification

Mann highlighted challenges in crop diversification and urged the Union government to release funds under RDF to compensate farmers.

Condemnation of Union Government’s Apathy

He criticized the Union government’s apathetic approach to agrarian issues and urged for genuine solutions to farmers’ economic challenges.

Action Against Anti-Social Elements

Mann warned against incitement of farmers by anti-social elements, vowing stern action and examination of CCTV footage for evidence.

Future Meetings and Custodial Responsibility

He announced plans for the next round of meetings, emphasizing his responsibility to prevent any section of society from suffering due to the protests.
