Chandigarh, February 13:

 

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju on Sunday condoled the sad demise of Vijay Bhaskar Sharma, Assistant Director Youth Services Barnala additional charge Faridkot, who died in a road accident while returning from election duty on Saturday Evening. Vijay Bhaskar Sharma, (47), was posted as Supervisor at 103 Barnala Constituency.

 

The tragic incident took place when Vijay, who was on his way home in Longowal from his duty, suddenly fell down on Bathinda-Sangrur highway from his motorcycle and was run over by a vehicle near village Harigarh in Barnala district. He is survived by parents, wife, a daughter, a son and a brother.

 

In a condolence message, Dr Raju said, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of our colleague Vijay Bhaskar Sharma, Assistant Director Youth Services, Barnala,”.

 

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, CEO Dr Raju prayed to the Almighty to give strength to the family members, relatives and friends to bear this irreparable loss in this hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

 

He said, “As per the instructions of Election Commission of India, Ex-gratia amount to be paid to the next of kin of the official who died on election duty.”

 

 

 

 

 

– PUNJAB ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS 2022: VALUABLES WORTH Rs 417.26 CRORES SEIZED IN PUNJAB AFTER ENFORCEMENT OF CODE: CEO PUNJAB

 

 

 

CHANDIGARH, February 13:

 

 

 

After the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the state for Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth Rs 417.26 crores since the implementation of Election model code of conduct till February 12, 2022.

 

 

 

Giving details in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Punjab Dr S Karuna Raju today said that the Punjab Excise surveillance teams have seized 48.30 lakh litres of liquor worth Rs 28.95 crore. Similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 319.94 crores besides confiscating unaccounted cash of Rs 29.26 crore, he added.

 

 

 

The Chief Electoral Officer revealed that as many as 1360 vulnerable hamlets have been identified. Besides this, 4290 persons have been identified as probable sources of trouble, he said adding that out of these persons preventive action had already been initiated against 3744 persons while the remaining would also be brought to book. He also informed that from a security point of view 2439 persons have been bound down under preventive sections of CrPC act.

 

 

 

He informed that all the 3132 cases of non-bailable warrants have been executed. As many as 25914 nakas are operational across the State, he added.

 

 

 

While implementing the directions of the election commission, Dr Raju said that of total 3,90,170 licensed weapons in the state 3,79,520 weapons have been deposited till date. Whereas, 125 without licenses weapons were seized in the state.
