PGIMER New Academic Session
Sunil Arora, Chief Election Commissioner of India will inaugurate the New Academic Session of PGIMER, Chandigarh, on Monday the 7th January, 2019 at 8:00 AM in Bhargava Auditorium of the Institute. He will speak on “The Road Ahead- Opportunities and Challenges”.
Sunil Arora took charge as Chief Election Commissioner of India on 2nd December, 2018. Prior to assuming charge as Chief Election Commissioner, Arora had been serving as Election Commissioner of India since 1st September 2017. During this time, Election Commission has conducted elections to the states of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland & Karnataka successfully. Similarly, elections to five poll going states, namely, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan & Telangana have been conducted. He is a retired civil servant (IAS, 1980 batch) belonging to the Rajasthan cadre. Arora brings rich leadership experience of over 36 years heading key departments while driving governance and policy reform initiatives both at Government of India (GOI) and State levels.
In the new academic session, nearly 110 students have joined the postgraduate courses of major specialties i.e. MD/MS,DM/M.Ch, PhD and other courses. Since, its inception PGI has produced 6000 specialists, 200
The pin-up ceremony for the new entrants to PGI for the session July 2018 and January 2019 will be held during the function.
