Revenue Patwari nabbed red handed for taking bribe Rs 4500

Chandigarh, September 15 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday nabbed a revenue Patwari, posted at revenue halqua Batala Sarki in Gurdaspur district red handed for accepting bribe of Rs. 4500

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau said Jaswant Singh, Patwari was arrested on the complaint of Mrs Gurdeep Kaur, of Mehta Chowk in district Gurdaspur.

Giving details he informed the complainant lady has approached the VB and alleged that the above named patwari was demanding bribe of Rs. 10000 for mutation of land in her name after the demise of her husband.

After verifying her complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused Patwari was caught red handed with Rs. 4500 as a first installment of bribe and tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police Amritsar and further investigation was under progress.
