Minister Balkar Singh Urges Prompt Utilization of Unused Funds

Chandigarh, January 23: In a review meeting at the Municipal Bhawan in Chandigarh today, Local Government Minister Balkar Singh, along with MLAs, Municipal Commissioner Ludhiana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Ludhiana, and EOs of Municipal Corporation/Nagar Panchayats of Jagraon, Khanna, Doraha, Mulanpur Dakhan, Raikot, Sahnewal, Samrala, Machiwara, Payal, and Malod, discussed various development projects. The officials were instructed to promptly use unused funds.

Minister Balkar Singh emphasized the importance of quality and transparency in sewerage treatment plants, water treatment plants constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the AMRUT Mission. He directed authorities to expedite the commencement of projects with approved DPRs and promptly approve DPRs for pending projects. He warned of appropriate action against officials failing to use allocated funds within specified time frames.

Balkar Singh shared detailed information about works under various schemes and allocated funds with MLAs, urging officials to maintain transparent communication for public-centric development. He reiterated the Punjab government’s vision, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, to develop Rangla Punjab, emphasizing the collective responsibility to work diligently and honestly towards achieving this vision.

Affirming that the state government has ample funds for development works, Cabinet Minister Balkar Singh instructed regional offices requiring additional funds to submit complete proposals with action plans to the head office.
