Foundation Day Celebrations in Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

Chandigarh, January 21: The vibrant cultures of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura took center stage at the Punjab Raj Bhawan as the Foundation Day celebrations unfolded in a beautiful programme aimed at fostering national integration. The event, held on Sunday, brought together over a hundred dignitaries, officials, and representatives from various walks of life to celebrate the rich heritage and diversity of these northeastern states.

Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and the Administrator UT Chandigarh presided over the festivities, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity and acknowledging the unique contributions of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura to India’s cultural tapestry.

The event showcased traditional dances, music and poetry recitation by students of the North Eastern States studying in Chandigarh, providing a platform for residents of Punjab to experience and appreciate the cultural nuances of the northeastern regions.

The Foundation Day celebrations at Punjab Raj Bhawan served as a bridge between the northeastern states and Punjab, promoting cultural exchange and understanding. The event underscored the essence of unity in diversity, fostering a sense of national integration and solidarity.

Recording of the Video Message from Governor Meghalaya, Shri Phagu Chauhan was played for the audience and a documentary on sister states was also shown.

Students from Ladakh  & Leh on Sadhbhawana tour under National Integration Programme also joined the celebrations.

Prominent people present on the occasion included Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Satyapal Jain, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor of Punjab, Shri K. Shiva Prasad IAS, Advisor to Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav  and other senior officers from UT Chandigarh.
