Cycle Tour and Treasure hunt planned with the intent to expand the participant’s knowledge of the city’s cycling infrastructure

Yoga Session planned for participants to give them experience of a beautiful morning in Chandigarh at Underpass, Sector 17
Chandigarh, April 28th, 2023: Cycling tour of City Beautiful Chandigarh and Yoga Session were arranged today morning for delegates from 100 Smart Cities across India came to participate in the Smart Cities CEOs Conference on Data and Technology. Participants experienced the bicycle infrastructure, the cycle tracks, the intersections and the junctions. The routes were carefully planned to ensure that the site visit gives the deeper insight about Chandigarh’s cycling friendly infrastructure.
Cycling tour was planned in two groups in which participants of one group named Team Nek Chand started from Leisure Valley, Sector 10 and other group named Team Corbusier started from parking area of Sector 7, Chandigarh.
The entire cycle ride was a treasure hunt in which the two teams were to answer questions about cycling, Chandigarh’s Infrastructure etc. Both teams were given pieces of jigsaw puzzle to reassemble at the final destination. In true spirit of Chandigarh, the Corbusier team won. Traffic Cycle Marshals joined the participants to guided them throughout the route.
“Chandigarh was chosen amongst the top 11 cities of the India Cycles4Change Challenge. As a lighthouse city with over 200 kms of safe cycling infrastructure and having India’s largest Public Bicycle Sharing System, we tried to give maximum exposure about Chandigarh city’s infrastructure to the participants of the CEO’s conference. Participants experienced a very relaxing morning Yoga session and a visit to Bird Park of Chandigarh was organized for all the participants of Cycling Tour and Yoga Session” said by  Mitra.
Gurinder Sodhi, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited, other officers and employees of Chandigarh Smart City Limited and Municipal Corporation Chandigarh also participated in the cycling event.
