121.64 LMT of Wheat Procured in the State

Chandigarh May 6:

Progressive procurement of wheat by the State Government agencies and the private traders is to the tune of 121.64 LMT in the mandis by May 5, informed an official spokesman of Punjab Government.

 

The spokesman said that out of the total procurement of wheat in the procurement centers across the State, the Government agencies have procured 121.15 LMT while the traders have procured 49157 MT. He also informed that district Sangrur is leading with a total procurement of 10.96 LMT of wheat up to May 5, 2018 followed by Patiala at 8.93 LMT and Bathinda at 8.87 LMT.

 

Detailing agency-wise, he said that PUNGRAIN has procured 2803357 metric tonnes amounting to 23% of the total procurement, MARKFED procured 2667962 MT which amounts to 21.9%, PUNSUP procured 2341613 MT leading to 19.3%, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC) procured 1655305 MT which is 13.6%, Punjab Agro Food Corporation (PAFC) procured 1207390 MT approximating to 9.9% while FCI procured 1438897 MT which amounts to 11.8% of the total wheat procured so far. Adding to this is a procurement of 49157 metric tonnes of wheat by private traders that is equivalent to 0.4% of the total procurement.

He said that till 5th of May 97.60 Lakh Metric tonnes wheat has been lifted from the Mandis all across the State.
