FORMER IPS OFFICER JOINS CONGRESS IN PUNJAB

Chandigarh, 11th January, Today, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, warmly welcomed Sudesh Kumar, former IPS and former Director General of Police, who expressed his desire to align with the Congress in Punjab. The induction ceremony occurred at the Punjab Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh.Sudesh Kumar, hailing from Village Simbli, Tehsil Garh Shankar, Distt. Hoshiarpur, received his education at Govt. High School, Simbli, and DAV College, Jalandhar.

With diverse professional experience in various departments of the Governments of Kerala and India, Sudesh Kumar holds the distinction of being the first IPS officer from India selected by the United Nations as a Police Commissioner for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During his tenure in Congo, he successfully led a multinational team of professional police officers from 25 French-speaking countries in West Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and South America, overseeing the reform and restructuring of the national police.

Commenting on Sudesh Kumar’s induction, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring remarked, “With his extensive experience over the years, Sudesh Ji brings highly developed skills in police, disaster management, industrial security, border management, international peacekeeping, and advocacy and diplomacy.”

In a statement to the media, Sudesh Kumar expressed, “I had a strong desire to join the Indian National Congress as this party has built the nation brick by brick. The vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mrs. Indira Gandhi has laid the foundations of economic development in this country by implementing a robust public sector programme, green revolution, space and nuclear industry, liberal economic policy, and by launching diverse social development programmes.”
