Sukhbir Badal visits Baba Labh Singh at Matka chowk

(Expresses solidarity with the Baba who has been sitting at the chowk for five months in support of the Kisan Andolan)

Chandigarh, July 24 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today visited Baba Labh Singh of Karnal at Matka chowk here to express solidarity with the aged protester who has been sitting at the chowk in support of the Kisan Andolan since the last five months.

Asserting that visiting the Baba was like paying homage to the very spirit of the Kisan Andolan, Sukhbir Badal said “we must all learn from him. He is a true inspiration of selfless service. I wish him good health and pray for the success of the Andolan”.

The SAD President said he had come to know about the unique protest of Baba Labh Singh when he saw a video in this regard during the ongoing parliament session. “I felt honour bound to come here and seek his blessings as well as express solidarity with him”. During his interaction with the aged protester, Mr Badal referred to the former as a strong pillar of the Khalsa panth and said the ‘panth’ was proud of him. He said the sit-in of the Baba had inspired thousands to join the Kisan Andolan and he had become a symbol of the peaceful struggle for repeal of the three agricultural laws.

Badal sat down with the aged protester for some time and also discussed the latter’s problems with him. The Baba while blessing the SAD President, appreciated the efforts of the erstwhile SAD government in promoting the rich cultural legacy of the State. The Baba also disclosed that he was being targeted for ouster from the chowk by the UT administration but that he was steadfast in his resolve to continue his sit-in to inspire the future generations.
