Vigilance Bureau Punjab arrests Civil Surgeon Office clerk for taking Rs 35,000 bribe

Chandigarh March 7 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended Rajwinder Singh (now retired), clerk posted in Civil Surgeon Office, Pathankot for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs Rs 35000.

“An official spokesperson of the state VB disclosed today that they arrested the above-mentioned clerk based on an online complaint lodged by Satnam Singh, a resident of Onkar Nagar, Pathankot, on the Chief Minister Anti Corruption Action Line.”

          He further informed that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the said clerk had obtained a bribe of Rs 35,000 from him in lieu of passing his medical bills amounting to Rs 3,13,486.

       The spokesperson stated that the investigation of this complaint proved that the said clerk had taken a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant for the above-mentioned purpose by forging a sanction letter issued by the Director of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab.

“During his tenure, investigators discovered that he forged 16 sanction letters, resulting in a loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer.” Furthermore, he announced that the VB police station in the Amritsar range has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. “He added that authorities will produce the accused in the competent court tomorrow, and they are continuing further investigation.”
